ALIAS (Turbo Moniker) is a three-act theatrical play, for which the audience is invited to watch and best hear the proceedings from near the amplified speakers. ALIAS (Turbo Moniker) stages and sequences responses to the prompt of a ‘Courtplay’, seventeen contributors invited to reflect and depart from ‘entertainment formats’ of tv courtroom dramas, lurid testimonials, oppositions, filibusters, representations of the aftermath of evil and cruelty. The titles of each act function as performative scores - City/Mind, Celebrities, Body/State - implying a shift in scale of perception. A group of four artists take on the written roles, briefly embodying fictional, historical, or abstract characters, before shifting to others, even alternating roles in repetition hours later. Playing often to the frame of a camera, ALIAS (Turbo Moniker) quickly shifts between engaging and alienating the spectator, offering some distance to question their objectivity and expectations.
